About me

I have always considered myself a California boy (born and raised in Los Angeles, college at UC Berkeley, grad school at UCLA) with an East Coast edge (thanks in good part to my parents who are from New York).  Now that I have lived in Shanghai for about half a decade, however, perhaps I should reconsider how I see myself?

In 2005, after several years of doing business in Asia (e.g., spending 3-4 months a year in Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc.), I decided that it was time to move overseas, learn a new language, and deepen my business roots in Asia. I chose Shanghai, the commercial center of China, which (for those who have not visited it) is like Manhattan on steroids. (BTW, several years later it is still every bit as exciting, if not more so!) You can click here to see my more detailed professional profile.

I am an avid amateur photographer who loves travel and exploring new cultures, food, wine, etc.  This is my personal site for sharing stories and pictures from my adventures in China/Asia with friends and family around the world …
